KAZAKHSTAN IS FILLED WITH INDIGNATION AND GRIEF

Kazakhstan is "filled with indignation" at the "horrific tragedy befallen the United States of America", said President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana today expressing his deepest condolences to President George Bush and the American people. "All the people of Kazakhstan share the grief and condole with the American people because of this tragedy", said Mr. Nazarbayev.
He believes "these actions against the mankind should not be forgiven" and it is imperative for "the whole civilized society to unite and take strong measures against the international terrorism".
Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov said in his address to Secretary of State Colin Powell  that he had "no words to express our feelings of anger and condemnation over the acts of terrorism and barbarity committed against the U.S."
"Kazakhstan strongly condemns every action with the use of force and stands ready to further pursue close cooperation with the USA and other countries and international organizations to counteract the "terrorist plague" of our time", noted Mr. Idrissov.
Currently, at the special instructions of President Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan's authorities are undertaking extensive measures to enhance the security of the U.S. diplomatic mission and business presence throughout the country.
